Around 90% of all of the carpet made today is made up of some type of synthetic fibre and the remaining 10% will be a natural fiber, most commonly wool. First, let’s look at the most common synthetic fibers.
The synthetic fibres will either be nylon, polypropylene or polyester. Of these nylon fibre accounts for about 75% of the carpet made today. That is because it is the best overall performer. It is best for appearance retention, fade and heat resistance, soil and stain resistance, and color and styling.
Polypropylene is not as resistant to abrasion as nylon, but it is naturally stain and fade resistant. Polypropylene is most often used in loop pile carpet constructions.
Polyester has been around since the 1960’s, and is good for colour clarity, and good stain and fade resistance.
Last but not least wool is more expensive but does clean well and is known to age gracefully.

It also depends on the size of the carpet in the rooms. Usually it is much better value for you to get a few carpets done on one visit.
